The day of Govardhan Puja is the Pratipada Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of Kartika month. On this day, Lord Krishna defeated Indra Dev and saved Govardhan Mountain from Indra’s wrath. Therefore, Govardhan Mountain and Lord Krishna are worshiped on this day.
