The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that students from Tamil Nadu who passed their Class 10 board exams during the COVID-19 lockdown will not be required to fill in their CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) in the JEE Main 2024 application form.
This decision was taken in view of the fact that the Class 10 board exams in Tamil Nadu were cancelled in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, students were given a ‘pass’ grade without any marks or CGPA.
The NTA has stated that the fields related to marks/CGPA will not be visible for candidates from the Tamil Nadu State Board of School Examination (Secondary) who passed their Class 10 in 2021. This applies to both students who have already submitted their applications and those who are yet to apply.
This decision is a welcome relief for students from Tamil Nadu who were concerned about how they would fill in their CGPA in the JEE Main application form. It is also a fair decision that takes into account the unique circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic.
