Najma Parveen, a Muslim scholar from Varanasi, has completed her PhD on India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the Department of Political Science of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Her thesis is titled “Narendra Modi’s Political Leadership: An Analytical Study”.
Parveen, hailing from a weaver’s family, was inspired to research Modi’s life and work after reading his book ‘Turning Points’. She was particularly impressed by his rise from humble beginnings to becoming one of the most powerful leaders in the world.
“I was fascinated by his journey and wanted to understand what made him tick,” she says.
Parveen’s research was not without its challenges. She says she faced some opposition from people who were uncomfortable with the idea of a Muslim scholar researching a Hindu leader. However, she says she was determined to complete her work and is proud of what she has achieved.
“I hope my research will help people to better understand Narendra Modi and his leadership,” she says.
Parveen is the first Muslim woman to complete a PhD on Modi from BHU. She says she hopes her work will inspire other Muslim women to pursue their dreams.

“I want to show Muslim women that anything is possible if you set your mind to it,” she says.
Parveen’s work has been praised by scholars and politicians alike. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has called her work “inspiring”.
“It is a proud moment for all of us that a Muslim woman has completed such a comprehensive research on Narendra Modi,” he says.
Parveen’s work is a valuable contribution to the understanding of Narendra Modi and his leadership. She has shown that it is possible to overcome prejudice and achieve great things.
